“Photography is the recognition, in a fleeting instant, of the significance of a moment. By printing and displaying that moment and that place, you make a transient whisper of time into a lasting dialogue - an enduring piece that enriches your daily life.”
— Henri Cartier-Bresson
About the ‘Slice of Blockley’ series
When I got down from the bus, the sign read ‘Blockley’. Somehow, several months of frantic house-hunting brought me to this quiet village, far from the bustling pace of London and Oxford, where my work and personal selves lived for five years. Looking back, I didn't have car or a driving license!
Within minutes of walking around - to the café, the church, the fields - I found myself drawn to this silent sanctuary. It is a quintessential gem of the Cotswolds. It is here, amid the timeless charm of stone cottages, winding lanes, and unassuming simplicity, that I felt inspired to pick up the camera again, after a hiatus of 8 years.
The images in this series reveal the layers of serenity and beauty that brought me here and still keep me here. One frame at a time and one step at a time, I hope these creations reflect the quiet essence of life that Blockley so effortlessly embodies.
